For Schools

Waukegan Public Library offers a variety of services for teachers in Waukegan, including Waukegan School District 60 and local private, parochial, and charter schools.

Teacher Cards & Loans

Library cards are easy to obtain for all teachers! Just show a photo ID and proof of employment at a Waukegan school and receive a library card good for the current school year.  If you have a card from another library in Illinois, show ID and your library card, and you can become a reciprocal borrower to check out items.

Classroom book loans are available to all Waukegan school teachers.  We will gather the books, check them out, and contact you when they are ready to be picked up.  The loan period for classroom loans is 6 weeks.

Reserving materials at the Library

Assigning a project? Let us know the topic, and we will make materials available to students who come to the library to work on their projects. Teachers at any grade level may request a cart of items to be put on hold for easy access at the Library. For grades K-8, please contact Patrick Toto, Children’s Department manager, at (847) 623-2041 ext. 285, or via email. For grades 9-12, please contact Victor Dixon, Reference manager, at (847) 623-2041 ext. 270, or via email.

School Events

The Library would love to be part of your school’s next event! We’re always looking to connect with parents and teachers to share information about the Library’s programs and services. We typically bring giveaways and activities for kids to complete. We can create library cards on-site too – just let us know in advance. To invite the Library to attend your event, please contact Patrick Toto, Children’s Department manager for K-8, at (847) 623-2041 ext. 285, or via email. For grades 9-12, please contact Victor Dixon, Adult Services Manager, at (847) 623-2041 ext. 270.
