Adult Services Manager 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $65,000, DOQ

Overview:

The Waukegan Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Adult Services Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will oversee 6 full-time employees in the Adult Services Department, which is responsible for developing engaging programs for adults and specialized adult education classes, promoting collections through knowledgeable readers’ advisory, delivering top-notch customer service and computer assistance, and participating in community outreach events. WPL is embarking on a new strategic plan with action steps that include the creation of a Makerspace, website redesign, robust cultural and arts programming, and initiatives that address the social, civic, career support, and health and wellness needs of our diverse community. The ideal candidate will be an emerging library leader with a desire to mentor staff and a passion for helping others and who has exceptional communication and technology skills. This role is a key member of the library’s Leadership Team and reports to the Deputy Director.

This is a salaried, exempt position that includes 95% employer paid health insurance, life insurance, IMRF retirement fund, 457 and flexible spending plans, annual paid time off (20 vacation days, 3 personal days, 12 sick days), and opportunities for career growth through continuing education opportunities, in-house committee work, and special event planning.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • An MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution
  • 3 years of experience working with adults in a library setting, including 1 year in a supervisory role
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends
  • Spanish language skills preferred
