Explore Space! at Waukegan Public Library

We’re excited to host the Explore Space! exhibit, now on view on our main floor until December 14! We’ve planned plenty of programs for all ages: from movie screenings to trivia, there’s something for everyone! Check out what we’ve got planned below, and be sure to stop in to the Library to view the exhibit soon.

For Children & Families

Nov. 5: Sensational Sixes & Sevens: All About Planets!
Children in grades K-2 will learn about the solar system with stories and crafts on Monday, November 5, 6:30 – 7:00pm in the Children’s Literacy Classroom.

Dec. 2: Wall-E
Families will enjoy a Sunday movie and popcorn at this screening of Wall-E on Sunday, December 2, 1:30 – 3:30pm in the Bradbury Room.

Dec. 10: 3rd-5th Graders – Got Science? Space
Our 3rd-5th graders will put on their lab coats at this special edition of Got Science? where they’ll learn all about space with hands-on activities, on Monday, December 10, 5:00 – 6:00pm in the Bradbury Room.

Nov. 30: Hidden Figures
Join us for a special screening of the award-winning movie Hidden Figures on Friday, November 30, 1:00 – 3:00pm in Classroom A.

Dec. 1: Space Trivia
Learn all about space from our partners at the Adler Planetarium, then test your knowledge with a game of trivia, on Saturday, December 1, 1:30 – 3:00pm in Classroom AB.

Dec. 6: YA Open Mic 
Young adults will share their original spoken word poetry and music inspired by space at our Open Mic Night on Thursday, December 6, 4:00 – 7:30pm in Classroom B.

Dec. 7: The Martian
Join us for a special screening of the award-winning movie The Martian on Friday, December 7, 1:00 – 3:00pm in Classroom A.

Dec. 11: Outer Space Stories of Ray Bradbury
Waukegan’s own Ray Bradbury took us on adventures to Mars and beyond through his stories, and we’ll bring them to life thanks to award-winning storytellers, on Tuesday, December 11, 6:00 – 7:30pm in Classroom AB.
