Top 10 Banned/Challenged Books in 2017

Here is the list of the 10 Most Frequently Banned/Challenged Books, as reported to the American Library Association (ALA). When looking at lists like this, it’s important to remember that different stories are important to different readers. When someone tries to remove a book from a library or a school,  it keeps other readers from having access to the book. It silences stories that someone else may want (or need) to hear.

The Waukegan Public Library already owns many of the titles on the Top 10 list, so if you’d like to check out one of these books for yourself, click on a title below the image to place a hold.
