Beloved children’s librarian Sandy Sherwood is retiring from WPL after 49 years…and we need your help to celebrate! During her many years serving Waukegan’s children, Miss Sandy has played a huge role in engaging children with books and nature, sharing her love of reading and gardening in particular through favorite programs like Digging in the Dirt. With unfailing optimism and joy, Sandy has made a difference in our community through her dedicated work. We will miss her, but we’re pretty sure we’ll manage to welcome her back as a volunteer! Learn more about Sandy’s work in this article from the Lake County News-Sun.
Join us for a party!
We will celebrate Sandy on Saturday, May 18, with a special drop-in party from 1:00 – 4:00pm. Join us to give Sandy your best wishes as she embarks on this new chapter, listen to one more storytime, enjoy a sweet treat and help us share a surprise or two!
Everyone is welcome, and registration is not required. Please join us in making this a very special day for Sandy!
