Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

On January 15, WPL will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy with several programs for all ages! Check out our events feed on Facebook for up-to-date information, and feel free to share the poster in the sidebar to help spread the word.

In 2018, the Library’s annual service project will benefit Color a Smile, a charity that has sent over one million smiles to people in need since 1986. Children and families are invited to stop by the Children’s Department on Monday, January 15 to color one or more special cards that will be sent to those in need of a smile, including senior citizens and our troops serving abroad. Color a Smile provides a meaningful opportunity to teach your little ones the value of donating their time and talent – all while having fun.

Our little ones will learn about Dr. King’s work and legacy with a storytime and craft, 5:00 – 5:30pm in the Early Learning Center sponsored by North Shore Gas.

Young adults and adults, stop by our pop-up table on the main floor, 1:00 – 3:00pm, to create a button to celebrate diversity.
