Early Learning Center

The Early Learning Center (ELC), located in the Children’s Department, is a unique space for kids from birth through second grade to develop the early learning skills they need to be successful in school. Important early learning activities like letter, number, and color recognition, sequencing, and sight words are integrated into one themed exhibit that gives kids lots of opportunities for imaginative play and gross and fine motor skill development. Technology is integrated into the space, and although digital tools are not the focus of the ELC, you’ll find two iPad Pros and AWE computers.

Right now, we’re exploring the changing seasons, all without leaving the Library! Stop in to the Children’s Department to discover four child-sized houses celebrating the seasons, interactive learning elements, hands-on activities, and plenty of fun ways to engage your child. There’s even a wind tunnel and a green screen!

The Early Learning Center is open during all of the Library’s open hours.

The Early Learning Center is generously sponsored by North Shore Gas.
