There’s always something exciting happening at Waukegan Public Library! Here’s what we’ve got in store for June!

Special events in June 2017:

June 2: Courtyard Concert: Sipos & Young
Community members of all ages will enjoy the acoustic music of local band Sipos & Young at our first courtyard concert of the season! Lunches will be available for purchase from Dockside Dogs, and drinks and treats from the Friends of the Library, on Friday, June 2, from noon – 1:00pm in the Library’s main courtyard. (Rain location: Bradbury Room, lower level).

June 5: Train Like an Astronaut
Children in grades 3 – 5 will learn what it takes to be an astronaut with lots of hands-on activities, on Monday, June 5, from 5:00 – 6:00pm in the Bradbury Room.

June 7: Anime Club
Middle schoolers in grades 6-8 will share their love of anime at our new club, on Wednesday, June 7, from 5:00 – 6:00pm in the Bradbury Room.

June 9: Courtyard Concert: Ivy Ford
Community members of all ages will enjoy blues from Waukegan’s own Ivy Ford, with lunches available for purchase from Dockside Dogs, and drinks and treats from the Friends of the Library, on Friday, June 9, from noon – 1:00pm in the Library’s main courtyard. (Rain location: Bradbury Room, lower level).

June 10: Blast Off with a Good Book! Summer Reading Program Kick-Off Party
Readers of all ages will blast off with a good book this summer! Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins at our launch party with activities, games, and books, on Saturday, June 10, from 1:00 – 3:00pm in the Library’s main courtyard. (Rain location: Bradbury Room, lower level).

June 13, 20, 27: Art Club
Middle school artists will share their talents at our new weekly art club, Tuesdays in June and July beginning June 13, from 5:30-6:00pm in the Bradbury Room.

June 15, 22: Crypto Club
Middle schoolers in grades 6 – 8 will learn to crack codes with their friends at our new Crypto Club, on Thursday, June 15 and June 22, from 5:00 – 6:30pm in the Bradbury Room.

June 16: Health Screenings
Community members will receive free health screenings, including vital signs/BMI, blood glucose, cholesterol, and more, on Friday, June 16, from 10:00am – 12:00pm in the Lewis Fresh Market Classroom A.

June 16: Courtyard Concert: Lady T Jazz
Community members of all ages will enjoy jazz music with Lady T, with lunches available for purchase from Dockside Dogs, and drinks and treats from the Friends of the Library, on Friday, June 16, from noon – 1:00pm in the Library’s main courtyard. (Rain location: Bradbury Room, lower level).

June 18: United Way Early Learning Club Colors & Shapes (English)
Preschoolers ages 3, 4, and 5 will learn all about colors and shapes, on Sunday, June 18, from 1:30 -2:20pm in the Bradbury Room.

June 19: Bring it, Make it, Take it T-Shirts
Children in grades 3-5 will create one-of-a-kind t-shirts at this fun program! Children should bring a clean, preferably white t-shirt to this program on Monday, June 19, from 5:00 – 6:00pm in the Bradbury Room.

June 19: Sensational Sixes and Sevens: Math Fun
Children ages six and seven will play zany math games, on Monday, June 19, from 6:30-7:00pm in the Early Learning Center sponsored by North Shore Gas.

June 21: Preschool Learning Time: Summer Crafts
Preschoolers will create fun in the sun crafts, on Wednesday, June 21, from11:30am – 12:00pm in the Early Learning Center sponsored by North Shore Gas.

June 23: Courtyard Concert: Kaleidoscope Eyes
Community members of all ages will rock out to the music of the Beatles with Kaleidoscope Eyes, with lunches available for purchase from Dockside Dogs, and drinks and treats from the Friends of the Library, on Friday, June 23, from noon – 1:00pm in the Library’s main courtyard. (Rain location: Bradbury Room, lower level).

June 24: United Way Early Learning Club Numbers & Counting
Preschoolers ages 3, 4, and 5 will practice numbers and counting on Saturday, June 24, from 1:30 -2:20pm in the Bradbury Room.

June 26: Sensational Sixes and Sevens: Summer Crafts
Children ages six and seven will create colorful summer crafts with watercolors and more, on Monday, June 26, from 6:30 – 7:00pm in the Early Learning Center sponsored by North Shore Gas.

June 27: Bound to Please Book Club
Adults are invited to join the Library’s book club, moderated by retired librarian Lourdes Mordini, on Tuesday, June 27, from 2:00 – 3:30pm in the Bradbury Room. Information on the year’s selections can be found on the library’s website, waukeganpl.org.

June 28: Preschool Learning Time: Rhyme Time
Preschoolers will practice rhyming words and create a craft on Wednesday, June 28, from 11:30am -12:00pm in the Early Learning Center sponsored by North Shore Gas.

June 30: Courtyard Concert: Patchouli
Community members of all ages will rock out to the earthy acoustic folk of Patchouli, with lunches available for purchase from Dockside Dogs, and drinks and treats from the Friends of the Library, on Friday, June 30, from noon – 1:00pm in the Library’s main courtyard. (Rain location: Bradbury Room, lower level).
