Update 08-03-2020: Starting Monday, August 3, Curbside Pickup will be available Monday – Friday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. By appointment only. Items may be returned Monday – Friday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm in the book drop located on Martin Luther King Dr. behind the Main Library.

Update 3-13-2020: The Waukegan Public Library will be closed effective Saturday, March 14th. We will be closed until further notice This is a preventive measure in response to COVID-19. There is no known exposure at this time. All book drops will be locked and no additional fines will be charged during the closing. Please keep checking our website for any updates.

The Lake County Health Department is working closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to monitor a fast-changing outbreak of respiratory illness named Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by a novel (new) coronavirus. At this time, the immediate health risk to the general public remains low.

Lake County continues to post updates and resources to The website includes information for individuals and families, businesses, communities, healthcare providers, schools and childcare programs, and travelers. Information is also being shared on social media.

The Health Department reminds everyone to practice “everyday preventive actions” to limit the spread of illness – remember the 3 Cs:

  • CLEAN hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth;
  • COVER your cough and sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash; and
  • CONTAIN germs by staying home if you are sick, except to receive medical care, and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
