Agatha Awards (traditional mystery)

The Agatha Awards, named for Malice inspiration Agatha Christie, are awarded for the Best Novel, First Mystery Novel, Nonfiction, and Short Story in the genre for the previous year.

American Library Association Prizes and Lists

ALA's yearly choices for Notable Books for Adults for fiction, nonfiction, and poetry are selected for their exceptional literary merit, expanded horizons of human knowledge, specialized subject matter, and/or proposed solution to a contemporary problem.

Bram Stoker Awards (horror)

Each year the Horror Writer's Association presents the Bram Stoker Awards for Superior Achievement, named in honor of Bram Stoker, author of the seminal horror work, Dracula. The Stoker Awards were instituted immediately after the organization's incorporation in 1987.

Dublin Literary Award

The International IMPAC Dublin Award is the largest international prize of its kind. Books are nominated by selected libraries from all over the world and can include books written in any language. Search the archives for winners, short listed or finalist books, and nominated books back to 1996.

Hugo Award (science fiction)

The Hugo Award, named in honor of Hugo Gernsback ("The Father of Magazine Science Fiction") and also known as the Science Fiction Achievement Award, is given annually along with other awards by the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS).

Mystery Writers of America Awards (including Edgar)

Nebula Awards (science fiction)

PEN/Hemingway Award

The PEN/Hemingway Awards are presented by PEN (Poets, Playwrights, Editors, Essayists and Novelists) New England to an American author who has not previously published a book of fiction. The late Mary Hemingway created the Hemingway Foundation in 1976 both to honor the memory of Ernest Hemingway and to recognize outstanding first books of fiction.
