Update on the Waukegan Public Library's Stolen Courtyard Statues

Regarding the May 31, 2012 theft of two bronze statues from the Waukegan Public Library County Street Courtyard, Executive Director Richard Lee spoke with Waukegan Detectives yesterday afternoon who said they have two men in custody charged with felony theft and there is a felony warrant for a third man. The statues were taken to a salvage yard in Chicago and are unrecoverable; or in the words of representatives from that salvage yard, “The statues are gone.”  The Waukegan Public Library will be contacting the sponsors of the two statues to determine the next steps for possible replacement.
