The Early Learning Center will be created using 2,200 feet adjacent to the current Children’s Department to create a room designed to foster early literacy skills for the youngest members of the community.
The Waukegan Public Library’s Early Learning Center will provide a stimulating child-centered learning environment for children ages 0-7 years and their families. The Early Learning Center will focus on the development of pre-literacy and literacy skills so all children in Waukegan will be better prepared to become successful students.

LOCAL AUTHORS Featured in the Community Section
Like most communities, Waukegan has hosted a number of writers who were born, worked, or continue to live here. The library is proud to feature these local authors, whether they have one slim volume or numerous books to their name. Their pages include the author's biographical information and photograph, publications, and sometimes a short essay from the author describing what inspired him or her to become a writer. Additionally, some authors have written about the role the Waukegan Library played in their reading and writing lives.
