resources on this page can only be accessed by Waukegan Public Library
Cardholders.

3rd Grade and up. Each of the 50 states, plus
Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the major territories, is covered in
depth. There are essays on the history, geography, economics, government,
culture,famous people who lived there, and major cities of each state.
Also contains an almanac and interactive maps of cities, natural features,
routes, the economy, and history of each state.
Grolier
Multimedia Encyclopedia
Grades 6 and up. Covers geography, history, arts, science, recreation,
and more. Features current events, research guides, timelines, and "Brain
Jam" with articles on special topics.
Lands
and Peoples
3rd grade and up. Describes each country's land, people, economy, history,
and government. Includes an 870-map electronic atlas, "Culture Cross"
which allows you to compare countries, world news at the "News Desk"
and a teacher's guide.
New
Book of Knowledge
4th grade and up. An encyclopedia containing thousands of articles, a
current events page, projects and experiments, reader's advice, homework
guides, a teacher's guide, and other links to related sites.

Book of Popular Science
5th grade and up. Provides articles on scientific subjects from Animals
to Chemistry to Mathematics. Also includes other web links to jump-start
further research. Also includes a teacher's guide.
SIRS
Discoverer
3rd grade and up. Finds magazine articles by reading level. Also contains
Funk and Wagnalls New Encyclopedia, the World Almanac for kids, and the
Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus.
