Did you know 76 percent of Waukegan children enter kindergarten without any knowledge of books, and 53 percent cannot write their name? Make sure your young learner has the tools she or he needs to succeed in school!

After attending this session, families are encouraged to sign up for one of our the Alphabet, Rhyming, and Books sessions on Saturday, April 6 from 1:30-3 pm or Sunday, April 7, 1:30-3 pm. Families that have attended a Colors, Shapes, Counting and Books session and an Alphabet, Rhyming, and Books session will be part of a graduation ceremony for both parents and children, be able to enroll in United Ways Kindergarten Club and receive a free bag of Bernie’s Book Bank Books.

Children ages 8 to 14 are invited to sign up for computer classes to learn basic computer skills which include word processing, spreadsheets, and video uploading. Classes are in session for four consecutive Saturdays, March 2, 9, 16, & 23 from 2-4 pm. For more information contact David Villalobos at 847-623-2041 x 234. This class is for individuals who have completed beginning computer skills in Spanish. The class runs for four consecutive weeks March 2, 9, 16, & 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and is held in the Computer Learning Center on the library’s main floor.
