What Is Interlibrary Loan?
Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service that allows libraries to share materials. If you do not find the book, CD, music score, periodical article, or other material you need at the Waukegan Public Library, visit or call the Adult Reference Desk. The Waukegan Public Library can borrow items for you from libraries around the area, state, and nation.
What We Need From You
When you order an item through ILL you must provide your name, address, phone number, and your library card number.
How Long it Takes
We try to get ILL items as quickly as possible, in most cases within a week. However, some materials may take longer due to a variety of factors.
Some Other Things to
Note:
You may request up to 5 items through ILL at a time. The total of your ILL requests, including those checked out to you or pending, may not exceed 10 items.
The length of time you may check out an ILL item is decided by the library that's lending the item. In most cases it will be a 3 to 4 week period.
In many cases we can extend the loan period for one week. Just call the Reference Desk BEFORE the due date.
You may not request DVDs through ILL.
Some libraries do not loan out certain types of materials, such as reference, CDs, or videorecordings through ILL.
Libraries usually do not lend fairly new items to other libraries. You can recommend that we purchase items we don't own by contacting the Reference Desk or filling out our online Book Suggestion Form.
