How to Get a Library Card

The Library Card

A library card is available to any Waukegan resident. When applying for a card, you will need:

  • Photo ID, such as a driver's license, a state ID, or passport.
  • Proof of residency in Waukegan, such as a current bill, mail, or lease with your name and address on it.

Children below the 9th grade or under age 14 need a parent or legal guardian with ID to register them for a library card.

The library honors cards from other Illinois libraries, and cards issued by the Waukegan Public Library may be used at most other public libraries in Illinois.

Click here to find out what you can do with your library card.

The E-Card

If you are a Waukegan resident but do not have a card and need to use our electronic services from outside the library, you may obtain an e-card.
